Lee High School Documentary Project

The Lee Documentary Project is a series of vignettes intended to highlight the unique mix of students, cultures, and challenges of an urban school. With over 1,500 students, originating from seventy countries, and entertaining forty plus languages, we believe Lee High School has a unique story to tell.

Goal:

First to educate a wider often skeptical public to the success of one urban school’s journey to empower the community it serves.

Why:

Very few outside of those who toil in an urban school understand our success. For the greater public to support us, they must understand that we’re a darn good investment.

Eyes:

Mostly through students-let they tell our story as well-after all it’s the students we serve...

Students:

The super smart, the struggling student, the gang affiliate, the undocumented, the teen parent, the college bound, the refugee, etc

Society:

Let’s take ONE day, and just blow it apart to show just how many gears turn to make our school work.

Concepts:

Have fifteen to twenty students’ film 8 to 12 hours on the SAME day in different parts of the building-Project Hope, College Center, Soccer Field, Content classes, Lee hallways and corridors, Principal’s Office … Let that ONE day be the center of the individual stories we spoke out …. We could have a clock in the corner counting…
